Dr. Justin J. Chung currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Transdisciplinary Medicine at Seoul National University Hospital and as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Seoul National University College of Medicine. He also manages the Biomaterials & IVD Laboratory at the Innovative Medical Technology Research Institute within Seoul National University Hospital.
Dr. Chung earned his Ph.D. in Biomaterials from Imperial College London, following the completion of his M.Sc. in Bioengineering at the same institution. He holds a B.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, New York. Prior to his current academic appointments, he worked as a Senior Research Scientist at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) and as a Research Associate at Imperial College London.
His research interests encompass biomaterials, polymer science, hydrogels, 3D printing, bioprinting, and drug delivery systems. Dr. Chung has been recognized with numerous accolades, including the Faculty Research Excellence Award from Seoul National University College of Medicine and two Research Excellence Awards from KIST. He has led several major research projects funded by national foundations and private corporations. Furthermore, he actively contributes to the academic community, currently serving as Technical Director for the Korean Society of 3D Printing in Medicine and as Director of the Biomaterials Division for the Korean Society for Biomaterials.
Dr. Chung’s research has been widely published in top-tier journals, and he has been invited to speak at numerous international conferences in the fields of biomaterials and regenerative medicine.
